Delete Your MapMyGene Account
Last updated: 23 June 2026
You can permanently delete your MapMyGene account and personal data — including your genetic data and reports — at anytime. This page explains how, what gets deleted, and how long it takes.
How to delete your account
Option 1 — In the app (fastest)
1. Open the MapMyGene app and sign in.
2. Go to Profile → Settings → Delete Account.
3. Confirm. Your account is deactivated immediately and erased after the grace period below.
Option 2 — By email
Email info@mapmygene.com from your registered email address with the subject “Delete my account.” To protect your data, we may ask you to verify your identity before proceeding.
What gets deleted
When your deletion is processed, we permanently erase:
• Your account and profile (name, email, phone, address, date of birth, gender)
• Your genetic data, DNA test results, and reports
• Your sessions, devices, and login credentials
• Personal/identifying details on past orders and payments (e.g., name, email, billing address are redacted)
What we retain (and why)
To meet legal, tax, and accounting obligations, we retain a limited set of transaction records (e.g., order amount, status, payment references) with personal identifiers removed, and security audit logs, for up to ‹7 years›, after which they are deleted.
Your full card details are never stored by us — they are handled by Stripe.
How long it takes
• Your account is deactivated immediately and can no longer be used to sign in.
• Your personal and genetic data are permanently erased after a 30–day grace period. This short window lets us recover the account if the request was made in error or fraudulently. After it elapses, erasure is irreversible.
• You’ll receive confirmation once erasure is complete.
Change your mind?
If you submitted a request by mistake, contact info@mapmygene.com before the 30–day grace period ends and we can cancel the deletion. After the grace period, your data cannot be recovered.
